he is huge!!

This was kohen at one week old next to a stuffed animal he was given from a sweet lady in our ward. This is him at one year old next to the same stuffed animal.

This is the day Kohen got to come home at 6 weeks old and him at one year old in his car seat! I can not believe how huge he is now!
This crazy boy started out at 2 pounds 4 ounces and is now 17 pounds 14 ounces. He started at 15 inches long and is now 28 and 1/2 inches. He has grown so much but is still the same Kohen he was when he was so tiny. It is fun how the same personality stays with them just shows more and more.
We are so blessed each and every day to be his parents and that he stayed on this Earth to be with us:)

the most wonderful time of the year!

Even though I am on bedrest and we can't do all that we had planned this year being Kohen's first Christmas out of the hospital we have still had a great December!
Kohen went and met Santa for his very first time. Santa was Grandpa John! He had just woken up from a nap so we thought he was going to cry but he just kept looking at him as "santa" would tell him how much he loved him. John was such a cute Santa. Watching him with other kids sitting on his lap was so fun to see.
My brother took his baby girl to fotofly Santa and I loved the pictures they had taken so Kellen and I set up an appointment for Kohen to go. Kellen dressed up as Santa! Kohen didn't know what to think of the beard and didn't want Kellen to hold him with it on haha

Kohen is not the best at taking pictures of. He HATES when anyone makes him hold still but in the end we got some pictures that we love.
My sister in law Collette and I had found some pictures on the lovely pinterest that we wanted to take of our boys. She came over and spent an afternoon with me and took these cute pictures of Kohen for me. I am in love with how they turned out :)
Kellen and I have watched some Christmas movies, had lots of hot chocolate and I have made the Christmas list for him to go shop lol the joy of bedrest! I am almost 33 weeks pregnant and am soooo happy that at 34 I will be off bedrest! whoot! We are so excited for Kohen"s second Christmas but first Christmas getting to spend it with his family:)

dump everything..

Kohen's birthday party was the Sunday after his actual birthday. Kellen and I have been planning this for months. We are so proud of all that Kohen has overcome and all that he has accomplished in his first year of life and we wanted to make a big deal about it:)
 We did a construction theme:)
Thank you pinterest for some ideas!

My mom made Kohen's cake and we were in LOVE with it! She did it just how I wanted it.

Kohen ended up being sick:( he started to act like he didn't feel good the night before and was just miserable for the entire party. poor guy:(
but he still looked so dang cute
and showed off his crawling :)

Kellen was so excited for Kohen to get to smash his cake but we learned when giving him a cup cake on his birthday that he is not a fan of the texture of cake for some reason? lol He is so funny and has a mind of his own for sure!

Kohen sure was spoiled by all his family and friends.
We can not thank everyone enough for coming to celebrate with us, for all the gifts, love and support we have been given through his first year! I still can't believe how lucky he is to have such amazing family and friends:)

how did this happen?

We are still in shock that Kohen is one! I took this picture the night before his birthday.. my sleeping miracle!
These are some of the clothes he wore in the NICU and his PJ's he fits in now.
This is the diaper he wore when he was first born (smallest diaper I have ever seen) and the diaper he is wearing now.

for Kohen's birthday we wanted to do everything he enjoyed. We went to wiggle worm time at the library, he loves singing and watching the kids run around. We let him go for a ride on the four wheeler,  play outside, played with all his favorite toys multiple times, made foods we know he loves and just kept singing happy birthday all day long. He loved when we would sing! He would dance and dance to anyone singing :)
This boy of mine has the best personality! He even knows how funny he is and will laugh at himself. I can not imagine my life without him. He is the light of our life every single day. I am sad he is growing up so fast but we enjoy watching him get into things and learn.
He had such a great birthday. I can't wait for his birthday party we have been planning for months! lol

29 weeks

29 weeks pregnant never means good with my pregnancies.
Kellen and I were counting down the days till we past 29 weeks. Every day was one step closer to keeping this baby in longer than Kohen. The day finally came that I was 29 weeks, We were so nervous but had a doctor appointment that day. We went to the doctor and did all the normal things. We went home with a normal night ahead. I started to feel like I was having contractions but what the heck? I still didn't know when I was having a contraction and this is my second pregnancy. Kellen and I decided if they kept happening we should probably go into labor and delivery with the history of 29 weeks. Well into labor and delivery we went. Leaving Kohen with my parents. We were checked right in and hooked up to monitors. I was having "irritability" contractions they said. They thought maybe I was dehydrated so they had me downing water like crazy. A little bit later I started to have real contractions, luckily they were not often but still a concern with the history. They gave me the first shot for that babies lungs and started me on the medicine to stop labor. They monitor me for a while longer and everything had stopped!!! We were able to go home and were told to keep taking the medicine whenever I had contractions. My family/hubby decided bedrest might be the best or only thing to keep this baby in. I am officially on bedrest. No one will let me lift Kohen or do anything except go to the bathroom. It has been soo hard for me being on bedrest but contractions come if I start to do anything more than I should.. We have made it past when I had Kohen but know we have 5ish weeks to go if we don't want another NICU baby.
Luckily we have the best family who has helped us SO much! We will never be able to thank them enough for all they are doing for all three of us.

on a positive note I get to spend the next two days with my boys :)

9 month old and 20 weeks pregnant!

Kohen is 9 months old and is crazy all the time. Never a dull moment with this crazy kid! He sits up like a champ now and really really wants to walk.. he does not want to crawl at all. He has his first two teeth:) We love when he smiles and you can see just two tiny teeth showing.

We were invited by the NICU to a reunion. We were so excited to go see some of the nurses that helped Kohen be here today. Deb in the first picture helped Kellen and I give Kohen his first bath. Kohen loved his balloon animal but it didn't last long with him and his teeth lol Irene is in the last picture. She always called Kohen her "main squeeze" and styled his hair every day before we got there. She was so happy to see we styled his hair for the party. We saw other nurses we loved but missed some of our favorites who were not there.
We went to our 20 week ultrasound and Kohen had zero interest in the ultrasound. He wanted the table, the chairs, the pictures and basically anything else around lol The baby is doing great! We will be having an ultrasound every 2 weeks to make sure the baby is growing good and that my cervix is not preparing to deliver early! We also started shots for the baby.. I am so lucky! I get to have a shot once a week. They don't know what made me go into labor with Kohen so they don't really know how to help me but they have given this shot to many other women who have delivered early. It has helped other women amazingly so we are crossing our fingers! Luckily I have a sister who is about to start nursing school, a sister in law nurse, a brother nurse and a brother paramedic fireman who can give me these shots. I told Kellen I didn't think he would be able to give me the shot since he can't even watch me get an IV. He thought he might be able to. He took one look at the needle and said nope, I can't give you these! lol

20 weeks means half way done.. but with Kohen's pregnancy I was only pregnant for 9 more weeks. Lets pray and pray that we keep this baby in for another 16-20 weeks!!!!!
