meet Hadley Mae
let the story begin..
I had my stitch removed on the 7th and thought for sure I would have the baby within the next two days. I was having contractions a lot but they would come for a couple hours and then stop. I had started to itch from head to toe just like I did in Kohen's pregnancy and knew I had cholestasis again :( My doctor ordered the blood work to make sure I had it for sure. I was miserable, not sleeping at all because of pain in my ribs(I swear she broke a rib) and from itching EVERYWHERE!
Friday at 11 AM we got a phone call from my doctors office. They said for us to call labor and delivery at 12 to set up our induction for that night. WHAT?? Kellen and I looked at each other and realized we were having a baby that night! We jumped up and started to clean, figure out everything with Kohen, pay some last minute bills and pack our bag.
We got to the hospital at 7:30 PM. The nurses said after they got me in a room that 6 others came in right around the same time so it would be a while. A while later they started my iv. My OB's partner came around 10:45 and broke my water. My contractions were happening one after another. The nurses were all saying if I wanted an epidural I better get one soon because my contractions were coming and coming fast. I knew I wanted an epidural no matter what so I got my epidural around 11:45. I was dilated to a 4 after the epidural. Kellen did a lot better being in the room while I got the epidural this time :) after the epidural kicked in Kellen laid back and fell asleep. I could not sleep. I could not shut my mind off. I was nervous thinking back to our experience with Kohen. Trying to remind myself that this is already different. We made it to 35 weeks and 4 days!
At 3:13 AM I was checked and the nurse said "oh yeah, you are about to have a baby in like two pushes"
she went out and called my doc who was coming for the delivery. (We had Kohen at 3:16 AM) My amazing doc got there and we started to push. 3 pushes later we had a baby!! Since she was coming before 36 weeks the NICU team had to be in the room to check her over. (one of the NICU nurses who was in the room was also in the room when Kohen was born) We told the doctor to announce if our baby was a boy or girl but he never did.. I looked over at my nurse and said "what is it?" she freaked and said you didn't see!?!? Kellen went over to where she was being checked over and said "It's a girl" We were in complete shock. We both thought for sure it was another boy. I just kept looking at Kellen in shock. They brought her over to me and we were able to love on her for a little while before she went to the NICU for a little longer.
She was born at 3:39 AM on January 11th weighing 5 pounds 11 ounces and 18 1/2 inches long.
. We had the greatest nurse EVER. She was so sweet and could relate to us so much. She had kids 16 months apart. One boy and one girl. She didn't find out the gender for one pregnancy that actually ended up being a girl also. She encouraged me so much while pushing and was just so sweet to us. We connected so quickly with her and we are so glad we had her as apart of our birthing experience with Hadley.
Our first family picture..
Kohen loves Hadley. He smiles every time he sees her and wants to give her a kiss. Then he is ready to hit her lol He is a total boy. He has started to want to share his bottle and binki with her. He tries to put it in her mouth but being a so young he does it a bit hard.
Hadley was able to come home with us!
This is the best picture we have gotten of the two of them so far.. Kohen does not want to hold still long enough to take a picture or to hold her.
We are so in love with our Hadders. She is such a great baby. She sleeps so great and eats like her brother, amazing! Kellen and I are horrible/picky eaters so we don't know how we got so lucky to have two great eaters. Kellen and I are a little tired having 2 kids who are so close together but not as tired as we both thought we would be. I am so lucky Kellen is able to take time off from work to help me for a little while get used to having two kids.
Oh my goodness congrats!!! I am so glad this ended happily for you! But please do tell, how much did she weight!? She looks tiny next to Kohen! Love her name! She is precious!
ReplyDeleteOh, Melissa! A super huge congratulations! How wonderful to see your beautiful Hadley! I'm so happy that she was able to come home with you! You deserve that after kohen's long hospital stay!
ReplyDeleteShe is ADORABLE! Hadley Mae is SUCH a cute name. So glad things went well for you this time. How close are your kids? My older brother is 22 months older than me and I love being that close!
